During his stay in Rome with the Ballets Russes in February 1917, Picasso met the ballerina Olga Kokhlova, with whom he fell in love. In the course of the ten years they were together many works were born, both naturalistic and cubist, often with Olga as a model.

Study for the head of Picasso's 'Nude with Drapery' (1907), often misinterpreted as a study for Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (1907), is actually a preparatory study for another masterpiece, Nude with Drapery (1907), a small gouache painted shortly thereafter.
Born in 1916 in Kansas City, Missouri, David Douglas Duncan began his professional career as a war reporter during World War II. As part of the United States Marine Corps, Duncan found his passion for photography while documenting the horrors of the conflict.
The Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía today inaugurated the exhibition Picasso 1906: The Great Transformation, following a ceremony led by Their Majesties King Felipe and Queen Letizia.
