Who was Françoise Gilot?

Françoise Gilot, French artist, art critic and writer, Picasso's partner from 1943 to 1953, died on the 6th June at the age of 101 in Manhattan, New York.

Artwork of the week: The Kiss 1969

The year before creating this piece, Picasso produced a series of works, which he called "347", in the Crommelynck studio (Mougins, France). They represent an erotic explosion in his art that explored encounters and depictions of passionate love affairs.

Picasso beyond painting: Malaga rediscovers the artist's sculptural phase
