Eight works by Picasso painted between 1901 and 1953 have been captured in color on 15,000 square coins minted in silver by the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre, a collection that has been presented at the Reina Sofía Museum before going on sale on December 5.
It is an edition of 5,000 large coins with a face value of 50 euros and a retail price of 300 euros plus VAT, and 10,000 small coins, with a face value of 10 euros, which will cost 80 euros plus VAT.
The large coins are 60 millimeters on each side and represent on their reverse side the works Harlequin with mirror (1923) and Woman with raised arms (1936), sharing the same obverse side with a portrait of a young Picasso and his well-known signature.
