In the framework of the Celebration Picasso 1973-2023, an initiative promoted by the governments of Spain and France that pays tribute to the artist on the 50th anniversary of his death, the Musée national Picasso-Paris, in collaboration with UNESCO, is organizing an international symposium in Paris, bringing together the protagonists of this great international project, among them, the commissioner of the Spanish Celebration, Carlos Alberdi, and that of France, Cécile Debray, director of the Musée national Picasso Paris.

The symposium will be held at UNESCO House, located in Paris, on December 7 and 8, 2023, with meetings, round tables, conferences and exhibition visits, on the issues related to the study and understanding of Picasso's work developed in the program of the Picasso Celebration 1973-2023.

During the two days, the various national and international exhibitions and activities of the program will be examined, bringing together directors, curators, researchers and artists from the more than forty participating international institutions. These initiatives have not only made it possible to take stock of the exhaustive studies on Picasso, but also to reinterpret the artist's legacy from a renewed perspective.

During both days, the Spanish representation will be notable and will include, among many others, the participation of Eugenio Carmona, curator of Picasso 1906: The Great Transformation; Casilda Ybarra, chief curator of the Mapfre Foundation in Madrid; Elena Llorens, curator of the Museu Picasso Barcelona and co-curator of Miró-Picasso; Emmanuel Guigon, director of the Museu Picasso Barcelona and co-curator of Diego Velázquez Invites Pablo Picasso... and Carmen Calvo, from the Casa Velázquez in Madrid.

These days are intended to be a reflection of the research of this celebration, which pays tribute to the legacy of Pablo Picasso in Spain, France and internationally, thanks to the collaboration of cultural and diplomatic institutions from countries in Europe and the United States.
